Scope

RM Watson has been engaged to deliver a comprehensive facade upgrade to the operational Mantra Hotel in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Located on the corner of George and Bond Street, the hotel’s unique positioning above the Sydney Light Rail presents distinctive logistical challenges, necessitating close coordination with Transdev to ensure minimal disruption to both transportation infrastructure and hotel operations.

In response to these parameters, RM Watson have installed a tower crane to the rooftop of the hotel. The tower crane facilitates the transportation of materials across the site and assists in the delivery of key facade related scope items, including:

  • Complete removal of existing, deteriorating Expanded Polystyrene Cladding system
  • Comprehensive substrate repairs and facade coating
  • Installation of custom-designed, replacement GRC and AAC façade cladding elements
  • Treatment of architectural features including column cladding, string courses, and turret elements

Our team have developed specific methodologies to manage the demands of working across an operational hotel while coordinating with multiple stakeholders including Transdev. The project showcases our ability to deliver complex facade upgrades in challenging high-risk environments while maintaining business continuity for our clients.
