RM Watson was engaged by Brookfield Commercial Operations and Turner & Townsend to deliver a comprehensive façade upgrade of the commercial tower located at 60 Carrington Street, Sydney.
Works completed across the project included the design and construction for the replacement of 1,200 degrading asbestos spandrels with 10mm HS monolithic glass. This also included an upgrade of the facade to achieve compliance with section J of the BCA.
The team were also tasked with re-coating all elevations of the façade to match the existing bespoke painting system and delivered isolated facade repairs and maintenance to CFC, glazing and concrete columns.
RM Watson’s Project Solutions team designed an industry leading access system to access the various works required across the facade. This consisted of a purpose built, cantilevered drop scaffold installed above Carrington Street and a 70-metre-high facade scaffold spanning across Wynyard Lane to access works on the Eastern elevation. The Wynyard Lane system holds the record as the highest continuous facade scaffold on record to ever be built using the Layher system in Australia.
