RM Watson was appointed by the Owners of Strata Plan 61896 and EY to deliver a major facade upgrade at 68 Market Street, a prominent37-storey mixed-use development in Sydney's CBD. The project focused on the replacement of non-compliant flammable ACP cladding across the Tower Apartments section of the building, which comprise of both hotel rooms and residential apartments.
The project required the wholesale removal of existing combustible ACP cladding systems and their replacement with solid 3mm thick aluminium cladding. Our team developed specialized methodologies for the treatment of the spandrel panels within existing window frames, preserving the original architectural intent while meeting current safety standards. Upon project commencement, the project scope extended to include necessary façade concrete repairs to exposed slab edges discovered during the cladding removal process.
Given the location and operations of the site, our project team developed and innovative, site-specific methodology to manage the complexities of working on a fully operational CBD building, ensuring minimal disruption to retail, commercial, and residential occupants. The project demonstrated RM Watson's expertise in delivering large-scale remediation works while maintaining strict safety and compliance standards.
